Officer Dave Blosser, his handler, is responsible for training and daily care. Dani is trained as a dual purpose patrol and narcotics detection canine. He is trained to track and apprehend subjects actively fleeing arrest. His ability to search large and small wooded areas as well as buildings improves officers’ safety while they work.
Dani is trained to sniff out illegal narcotics in all types of vehicles including semi-trucks, shipping containers and packages. In Dani’s first month of service, he assisted the Ohio State Highway Patrol and was responsible for finding subjects that fled from a scene.
During Dani’s short time at WPD’s K-9 unit Dani has sniffed out more than 2oz of cocaine and marijuana. Clearly, Dani is an asset to our department.
Officer Blosser and K9 Dani are available to assist local community organizations with a professional, police K9 demonstration. This demo allows community members to connect with the police department and realize the importance of our duties as officers as well as the duties of a properly trained canine. If the duo can be of assistance, please feel free to contact the Weathersfield Township Police Department at (330) 652-6486 and ask for Officer Blosser.
